Loren Parsons
Founder and Executive Director, The Reading Refinery
Loren grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School before embarking on a journey across the United States, working with community centers and serving underserved populations. Her passion for education and community engagement ultimately led her back to her hometown. Loren is a dedicated educator and curriculum specialist with a deep commitment to empowering young readers and writers. With over five years of experience in elementary education and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction underway, she has created dynamic, engaging learning environments both in-person and virtually. Loren’s innovation in education has earned her multiple honors, including the Duval County Public Schools Black History Month Curriculum Award and being named Venetia Elementary’s 2023 Teacher of the Year. She also holds a state reading endorsement and UFLI certification, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based literacy practices. After teaching in Florida and Massachusetts, Loren founded The Reading Refinery to create a nurturing, inclusive space where every child can build strong literacy skills and discover their full potential.

Chante, a dedicated educator from Orange, Massachusetts, has devoted over 40 years to the field of education. Her career began in special education, followed by many years teaching elementary students. Her commitment to fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments led her to serve as principal at several schools, including Phillipston, Massachusetts, where she served for five years. Throughout her career, Chante has enriched the lives of countless children through her passion for education.
Linda Ellis
Linda is a dedicated educator from Phillipston, Massachusetts, known for her longstanding commitment to local education. She has served on several Education Committees, contributing to the development and oversight of educational initiatives across Massachusetts. Her work reflects a deep passion for fostering academic growth and supporting students across the region.
Josie Jenks
Josie is a dedicated Community Health Worker at Athol High School, helping ensure mental health and well-being resources are accessible to all students. Beyond her professional responsibilities, she actively supports various local programs aimed at enhancing community wellness. Josie’s commitment to service reflects her passion for building a strong, supportive, and connected North Quabbin region.
